Leaders of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Jigawa State Council have paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim, to formally introduce the new leadership of the union and strengthen collaboration with government.
The Chairman of TUC in the state, Comrade Ali Sa’adu Dutse, who led the delegation, commended Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi for his purposeful and worker-centered leadership since assuming office in 2023.
He said the Governor has recorded visible achievements across education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment, and workers’ welfare.
Comrade Dutse highlighted the administration’s commitment to timely payment of salaries, gratuities and pensions, as well as transparency, peace and sustainable development.
He noted that these policies have earned the government the trust and support of organized labor and the people of Jigawa.
“Governor Namadi has demonstrated sincerity, commitment, and passion in serving the workers and people of Jigawa State.
His visible developmental strides, especially in workers’ welfare, are commendable,” the TUC Chairman stated.
He expressed confidence that the Governor’s achievements and labor-friendly policies would further strengthen the partnership between government and organized labor.
In his response, the SSG, Malam Bala Ibrahim, thanked the TUC leaders for the visit.
He said the current administration has stabilized the state and local government contributory pension scheme, sustained regular payment of salaries and pensions, and successfully implemented the new minimum wage across all salary structures.
Malam Ibrahim reaffirmed government’s commitment to working closely with labor unions in the spirit of fairness, transparency and progress.
He urged workers to remain dedicated to duty and assured them of continued government support. “We will continue to stand in solidarity with you. Together, we will build a stronger and more prosperous Jigawa,” he said.
The visit was witnessed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Industrial Relations, Comrade Ibrahim Ahmed Kwaimawa.
