The Nasarawa State Water Board says the state will benefit from the five hundred million US dollars for sustainable urban and rural water supply, sanitation and hygiene program SURWASH to address the scarcity of rural and urban water supply in the state.
The General Manager of the State Water Board Dr. Kana Ahmed Abubakar disclosed this while speaking with journalists in lafia, the state capital.
Dr. Kana Ahmed Abubakar said, the funds is an intervention from the federal government in collaboration with the world bank aimed at providing hygiene water and supply to the people in urban, semi urban and rural areas across the state.
According to him, three key agencies in the state such as waste management agency, water board and rural water supply agency are the major beneficiaries of the intervention funds through the world bank.
The General Manager of the state water board maintain that they are working tirelessly to ensure their performance have been achieve considering that the state were rated between seventy to eighty percent by the world bank.
Dr. Kana Ahmed Abubakar also disclosed that, Governor Abdullahi Sule had put a request of the state before the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission HYPPADEC to include nasarawa as beneficiary which the commission accepted and it will spend about billion naira in provision of water supply in awe and obi local government areas.of the state.
He explained that, arrangement are on top gear to provides hygiene water supply to the inhabitants of awe and obi for healthy society and agricultural activities as well as other livelihood for the economic progress.
The General Manager of the state water said, they are working day and night to provide clean water to the people of lafia the state capital and other three major cities in the state.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for given the state water board all the necessary support to achieve their set objective.
