The Association of Tsangaya and Qur’anic School Teachers in Jigawa State has thrown its weight behind Governor Umar Namadi for a second term, citing his administration’s efforts to improve the welfare of Almajirai and upgrade the Tsangaya education system.
The endorsement came during a special prayer session for peace, unity and development held in Dutse. The gathering brought together Islamic scholars, Tsangaya teachers and Qur’anic school proprietors who prayed for the progress of the state and the country.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the governor, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Lawan Yunusa Danzomo, thanked the scholars for their prayers and solidarity.
He said the state government remains committed to expanding access to quality education, integrating Tsangaya schools with formal education, and improving the living conditions of Almajirai in line with its education reform agenda.
Dr. Danzomo added that the administration will continue to work with religious leaders and education stakeholders to promote peace, moral values and overall educational growth in the state.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of the Jigawa State Tsangaya Education Board, Dr. Hamisu Maje, who coordinated the programme, praised Governor Namadi for prioritizing the Tsangaya sector. He noted that various interventions by the government have improved learning conditions and created more opportunities for Almajirai.
According to Dr. Maje, the governor’s investments have strengthened Qur’anic education and deepened the integration of Islamic and conventional learning across Jigawa.
The scholars at the end of the session unanimously resolved to support Governor Namadi’s re-election bid, describing him as a leader genuinely committed to the development of Tsangaya schools and the welfare of Almajirai. They also pledged support for all candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at both state and national levels in future elections.
The programme concluded with prayers for lasting peace, unity, security and prosperity in Jigawa State and Nigeria. Participants urged leaders at all levels to uphold justice, good governance and the welfare of citizens.
