A violent windstorm has destroyed 147 houses, sleeping rooms, and granaries in Sarari community, Durba District of Kibiya Local Government Area, Kano State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, following heavy rainfall accompanied by a strong wind, according to a report presented to the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Isa Umaru, by the District Head of Durba, Alhaji Magaji Saminu Umar.
The report stated that the disaster left many households homeless and destroyed foodstuffs and household items.
However, no loss of life was recorded in the incident.Responding to the report on Wednesday, the Emir of Rano expressed sympathy to the affected residents and prayed against future occurrences of such disasters.
Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Isa Umaru directed that a letter be written to Kibiya Local Government Council to notify authorities of the disaster and seek emergency relief for the victims.
Sarari village head, Alhaji Adamu Zangi, also gave more details on the extent of the damage during a discussion with palace officials.
In another development, the Emir of Rano presided over the conversion of two women to Islam at his palace.
The women, Aisha and Halima, came from Magami in Sumaila Local Government Area.After taking their ritual bath at the palace, the Emir gave them wrappers and cash gifts.
He urged them to adhere strictly to Islamic teachings for success in this life and the hereafter.
