The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the education sector through sustained investments and strategic partnerships to improve learning conditions and expand access to quality education across the State.The state Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, stated this at an event held at Adeta Primary School in Ilorin.She described education as a collective responsibility that requires active collaboration between government, communities, old students’ associations, and private organizations.Dr. Nuru explained that the present administration has continued to implement impactful educational reforms, including the abolition of basic education school fees, among others She donated 100 school uniforms to indigent students , reinforcing the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and equal access to education regardless of socio-economic background.The Commissioner also acknowledged the contributions of non-governmental organizations and community-based initiatives toward supporting education in the State. According to her, some initiatives included sponsoring students for external examinations such as WASSCE, NECO, and JAMB, thereby easing the financial burden on parents and guardians.In his remarks, the Chairman of the Adeta Old Pupils Association, Alhaji Shehu Ibrahim, noted that the distribution of exercise books and uniforms to students was funded by donations from association members and supporters, totaling nearly two million naira.He stated that the initiative reflects the association’s commitment to supporting less privileged students and promoting educational development within the community.Alhaji Ibrahim commended the State Government for ongoing infrastructural improvements in schools, particularly at Adeta Primary School and appealed for the accreditation of the school’s WASSCE and NECO examination centers to enable students to sit for examinations within their learning environment.He also proposed adopting a unified identity for schools within the Adeta community, including standardized uniforms and the use of the name “Progressive Schools” for the primary, junior, and senior secondary schools.In his address the Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), Professor Shehu Adaramaja,who was represented by the Permanent Member of the Board,n Ibrahim Moshood, commended the state government and other stakeholders for their contributions to the advancement of education in the State.He noted that the present administration’s educational policies and interventions have continued to produce positive outcomes across public schools.END ALI MUHAMMAD RABIU
