ABUJA: FG Denies Plan to Scrap NBAIS, Reaffirms Support…
The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed claims that the Federal Government and National Assembly plan to scrap the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies, NBAIS.
In a statement issued on Monday, June 16, 2026, the Ministry described the report circulating on social media as false, misleading and unfounded.
The Ministry said it has not initiated any bill before the National Assembly to abolish NBAIS, nor proposed any policy to undermine the Board’s statutory mandate.
It noted that NBAIS remains a duly recognised examination and certification body within Nigeria’s education system, and that the Federal Government continues to support all legally established educational institutions in line with national policies.
The Ministry urged the public to disregard the publication and rely only on official communications from authorised government channels for accurate information on education policies and reforms.
