The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has unveiled activities for the 2026 Civil Service Week to mark African Public Service Day, observed annually on June 23.
Officials said the week is designed to highlight the role of the Civil Service in national development while promoting excellence, professional growth, and citizen-centred service delivery.
A key event is the Mentoring Marketplace scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026. The programme will sensitise stakeholders on the Federal Public Service Policy and Guidelines on Mentoring recently approved by the Federal Executive Council.
Organisers said the session will deepen understanding of mentoring as a tool for leadership development, knowledge transfer, succession planning, and institutional sustainability across the Federal Civil Service.
The same day will feature the presentation of an improved IPPIS-HR module Employee Self-Service Application.
The new digital functionalities are expected to boost operational efficiency, improve employee experience, and enhance service delivery across Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
The day’s activities will close with the 2026 Rewards and Recognition Awards Ceremony. Deserving civil servants will be honoured for outstanding performance, dedication to duty, professionalism, and contributions to the transformation of the service.
All events on Thursday will take place at the Rotunda Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, according to the office.
Spiritual engagements are also lined up. A Special Juma’at Prayer will hold on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the National Mosque, Abuja, while a Special Thanksgiving Service is slated for Sunday, June 28, 2026.
The Office of the Head of the Civil Service said it will continue to celebrate the commitment, resilience, and contributions of public servants to national development.
