Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has installed and presented the staff of office to the new Aren Eggon of Eggon Land, Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku retired.
The governor perform the ceremony at the official installation and presentation of staff of office to Ahmed Ubangari Alaku in nasarawa eggon local government area of the state.
Speaking at the occassion, Governor Abdullahi Sule called on the new traditional ruler to discharge his duties with justice, equuty, fairness and without fear or favour in the interest of peace and unity of eggon nation and the state at large.
“We are all gathered here to witness the formal installation and presentation of staff of office to HRH Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku 1, the Aren Eggon……””As you are aware, traditional rulers remain indispensable partners in governance and community development.
They serve as custodians of our cultural heritage, promoters of peace and unity as well as mediators in the conflict resolution” he said.
He said that his administration has incorporated the traditional institution into the machinery of governance by engaging them in governmental affairs at all levels and expressed his confidence that under the guidance of Ubangari, peace and progress would continue to thrive in eggon nation.
“The synergy has also contributed immensely towards fostering of peace, tranquility and harmonious co-existence among our diverse people” he said.
Governor Abdullahi Sule explained that the appointment of Ahmed Ubangari Alaku, to succeed the late Aren Eggon, Dr. Bala Abaine Angbazo was not only in the signal of kingship but his ability to unite the people which has given hope to the eggon nation for a better living.
“I said this considering the antecedent of His Royal Highness, who is a man of proven wisdom and integrity.
He embodies the virtues that are essential for leadership” Sule said.
“In his remark, the state commissioner for local government, community development and chietancy affairs, Aminu Mu’azu Maifata, said, the selection of Ahmed Ubangari Alaku as the new Aren Eggon followed the demise of late Aren Eggon, Dr. Bala Abaine Angbazo.
The commissioner called on the people to continue to support traditional rulers to succeed in promoting peace and peace in the state.
Earlier, the chairman of nasarawa eggon local government area, Barr. Aliyu Ibn Aliyu, said, the installation of the Aren Eggon would continue promote unity and peace among eggon people and their neighbours.
He assured the Aren Eggon of his prayers, support and cooperation to succeed. Also in his remarks, the Aren Eggon, Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku appreciated the governor for approving his selection as new Aren Eggon and presenting the staff of office to him.
The Aren Eggon promised to rule his people with justice, fear of God and without fear or favour in the interest of peaceas well solicited for the support of eggon stakeholders, sons and daughters and other people to enable him succeed.
“I therefore, call upon all sons and daughters of eggon land to join hands in building a stronger, more prosperous and more united eggon nation, a peaceful nasarawa state and the country at large.
“Let us embrace dialogue over division, cooperation over conflict and service over self interest” he said.
The last such ceremony was in 1983, when the immediate past paramount traditional ruler, HRH Dr. Bala Abaine Angbazo, received the staff of office from the then Governor of old Plateau State, Chief Solomon Daushep Lar.
The event had in attendance, former APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu, former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Umar Tanko Al-Makura, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammed, who led State traditional rulers, traditional rulers of Jukun from Taraba State, Nupe from Niger State and Igala from Kogi State.
The colorful and well attended occasion featured different display of traditional and cultural dancers.
