The candidate of lafia central byeing for nasarawa state house of assembly, under the All Progressive Congress APC Barrister Abubakar Imam Zanwa says he will initiate a private member bill to ensure the laws that will guide in boosting the economy growth in the stste.
He made the statement while speaking with newsmen, after declaring him winner of primary election held in lafia the state capital.
Barrister Abubakar Zanwa who give a reference with the state urban development board NUDB that have wider coverage across the state, explained that, lafia is rapidly developing considering that people from all walks of life ae truping into the nocks and cronies of the capital.
“When we are in plateau we have jos metropolitant develooment board, so now we need to have lafia metropolitant development board which will bring rapid development so that we don’t have difficulties interms of population expultion and should be profer design based on the land tenure system in all the sector of the town.
And when you have a profer master plan for lafia and feature development for mid-term and long-term we wil acheive the set goals,’ he said.
To a larger extent we give bird to a develooment. We need structural development to accomodare and shelter most of these peoole, the town will be aggregated to be in-tune with most of these developed city,’ zanwa added.
“According to him, Nasarawa Urban Develooment Board NUDB handle the entire urban structure across the state, with heavy responsibilties, to include all the thirteen local government areas that have been designed, while lafia as a capital where so many people are coming in, with similar in karu area plan develooment authority KAPDA.
Barrister Abubakar Imam Zanwa, who was once a former state assembly member and commissioner for special duties and legal matters, further explained that, the duty of assembly member is that of law-making and promise to make useful representation if given another opportunity comes in 2027 general election.
“As a lawyer by calling and a politician in designed i had represented lafia central between 2015 to 2019 in the fifth assembly and during the time under reference i was able to present private member bills where among the laws are the administration of criminal justice which is currently in operation and easing the criminal justice.
We have the local givernment election law which facilitated the process of selecting and electing leaders at the third tiers of government and indeed nasarawa state local government law,’ he said..””We have the nasarawa state local government law which deals with administration in finances of local government in nasarawa state.
And there are some silient provision that contained in those laws which either to now we use to have series of problems in the issue of tenure, one year, two years and three years where a set of in determination of the actual tenure of local government administrators in nasarawa state which i sponsored the bill and all the laws were repealed re-enacted and ger new laws to have three years for local government chairmen in office,’ Zanwa maintained……..”He said, the state is among the few most confitative in terms of investment destination in nigeria which governor Abdullahi Sule had inject the state into the map.
“When i was serving under his administration as commissiiner for special duties and legal matters between 2019 to 2021, i studied his decument guiding him on the implementation of his program known as Nasarawa State Economic Development Strategy-NEDS and in the course of implementation to guide the activities of government i proveded a small legal decument known as a legal frame-work for enhancement of the NEDS which encapsolated with a number of laws that enhance most of the changes which the government is implementing,’ he added.
