No fewer than 2,000 youths on Sunday defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and other political parties to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The mass defection took place during the inauguration of the ADC campaign office for Birnin Kudu LGA. The office, donated by the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, CON, was commissioned by the ADC Jigawa Central Senatorial candidate, Alh. Isah Ahmad (Barayan Dutse), along Bauchi Road in Birnin Kudu.

The defectors, led by Malam Musa “Mai Photo”, were formally received into the party by the ADC leadership.

Speaking at the event, ADC Jigawa Central Senatorial candidate, Alh.Ahmed Isah, Barayan Dutse described the ADC as “Nigeria’s rescue platform,” saying the party was committed to restoring hope, improving security and addressing the nation’s socio-economic challenges.

He disclosed that more politicians and their supporters were preparing to join the ADC, describing the growing defections as a movement to rescue Jigawa State and Nigeria.

He urged youths and women to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and support the ADC, arguing that the APC had failed to improve the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

Alh. Ahmed Isah, thanked the people of Birnin Kudu for their warm reception, describing the town as his second home.«”I consider Birnin Kudu my second hometown after Dutse.

The people have always treated me as one of their own,” he said.

In separate remarks, the ADC House of Representatives candidate for Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency, Alhaji Idris Bello Idris , and the party’s State House of Assembly candidate, Alhaji Ibrahim Bashir Mango, expressed confidence that the ADC would win the 2027 general elections, stressing their commitment to good governance and improved welfare for the people.

Receiving the defectors on behalf of the State Chairman, Hon. Sani Ibrahim Gumel, the ADC Deputy State Chairman, Hon. Nuraddeen Suleiman Jidawa, assured the new members of equal rights and full integration into the party.

The event was attended by the ADC House of Representatives candidate for Dutse/Kiyawa Federal Constituency, Hon. Bala Usman Chamo and ADC state House of assembly aspirant Birninkudu Local government area, Alh.Gali Tafida, alongside party executives, stakeholders and supporters from across the state.
