The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded two major successes in its fight against crime, arresting two suspected thieves and recovering stolen property including a motorcycle, cattle and sheep in separate operations across Birnin Kudu and Malam Madori Local Government Areas.
According to a press release issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, operatives working in collaboration with a local vigilante group arrested Isiyaku Isah 26 years,of Mariri village and Musa Yakubu 25 years, of Babaldu town, both in Birnin Kudu LGA, on 15th May 2026 at about 08:00am.
The suspects were apprehended in possession of one red Boxer motorcycle reasonably suspected to have been stolen.
They are facing charges of criminal conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing the motorcycle from Dabar Lantana in Ningi LGA of Bauchi State.
SP Adam said efforts are ongoing to trace the rightful owner of the recovered motorcycle for onward handover in accordance with the law.
In a second operation on 19th May 2026 at about 11:00 pm, operatives attached to Malam Madori Division, working with the neighborhood watch security, recovered two motorcycles, one cow, and three sheep while pursuing suspected thieves within the area.
The PPRO explained that on sighting the police team, the suspects abandoned the exhibits and escaped into nearby bushes.
No arrest was made at the scene, but police said they have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and identify the owners of the recovered properties.
SP Adam reaffirmed the commitment of the Commissioner of Police to sustaining the crackdown on criminal activities across the state.
He said the synergy between police operatives and local security groups has continued to yield positive results.
The Command urged members of the public to report any information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects or help identify the owners of the recovered items. “Community support remains key to keeping Jigawa safe,” SP Adam stated.
