HOW TO APPLY

  • Obtain the Application Form Visit the nearest Nigeria Police Force State Command Headquarters and obtain the prescribed firearm licence application form.
  • Complete and Submit the Application You may be required to provide:• Passport photographs• Valid means of identification (NIN, Driver’s Licence, International Passport, etc.)• Proof of address• A letter explaining why you need the firearm• Medical fitness report• Police clearance or character report• Evidence of payment of prescribed fees
  • Police Background Investigation The Police will conduct investigations into your character, criminal history, mental fitness, and the authenticity of the reason stated in your application.
  • Review by the Commissioner of Police The Commissioner of Police may make recommendations regarding the application.
  • Final Approval Approval is granted by the appropriate authorities within the Nigeria Police Force. Processing may take time depending on the circumstances of each application.
  • Issuance of Licence If approved, a firearm licence or certificate is issued, specifying the firearm you are permitted to possess. NOTE THIS Not every firearm is available to civilians. Certain categories of weapons are prohibited.
  • Buying a firearm from unauthorized sources is illegal.Firearm licences are not permanent and may require renewal in accordance with applicable regulations. Carrying or possessing a firearm without a valid licence can attract severe criminal penalties, including imprisonment.THe type of firearm licensed is the type that you must possess NOTE THIS Follow only the lawful procedure.
