Members of the NYSC/EFCC Community Development Service (CDS) Group have been urged to uphold integrity and take active roles in the fight against corruption.
The Head of Public Affairs Department of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Babatunde Ayodele, made the call during a sensitisation programme, titled *“Integrity and Personal Responsibility,”organised for the Corps members in Ilorin,Kwara state.
He said the engagement formed part of the Commission’s efforts to monitor and coordinate the activities of the CDS group while encouraging participants to understand the dangers of corruption, take ownership of the anti-corruption campaign .
Ayodele emphasised that the fight against corruption begins with individual values and personal choices.
He urged the corps members to reject fraud and other dishonest practices, stressing the importance of building a culture of honesty, responsible digital behaviour and the courage to resist peer pressure that could lure young people into internet fraud.
Ayodele also highlighted the dangers associated with cybercrime, warning that those involved risk arrest and prosecution.
According to him, the temporary gains from fraudulent activities are never worth the lifelong consequences.
He encouraged the corps members to pursue legitimate paths to success, and advised them to focus on entrepreneurship, digital skills development, professional growth and community leadership.
In her remarks, the NYSC CDS Group Supervisor, Abosede Gbolahan, commended the EFCC for its sustained collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps over the years.
She called for stronger partnership between the Commission and the scheme to further empower corps members to contribute meaningfully to the anti-corruption campaign in the country.
