The Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, JPCACC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, IPCR, to strengthen institutional capacity and promote professional mediation in the state.
The signing took place at the headquarters of IPCR in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, JPCACC Executive Chairman, Barrister Salisu Abdu, described the MoU as a major milestone in the Commission’s drive to build strategic partnerships for professionalism and better service delivery.
He said the agreement followed a courtesy visit to IPCR in April 2026, where both institutions agreed to collaborate on capacity building and mediation.
Barrister Abdu noted that while JPCACC handles public complaints and anti-corruption, its Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, unit has become key in resolving communal, land, family and administrative disputes across Jigawa’s 27 LGAs.
He explained that the MoU covers specialised training, mediation and conflict resolution certification, research, policy development, dialogue facilitation, and knowledge exchange.
He expressed optimism that the partnership will expose JPCACC officers to national and international best practices and improve services to residents.
The JPCACC Chairman also appreciated IPCR’s leadership for the partnership and commended Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi for his support for institutional reforms and capacity development in the state.
On his part, IPCR Director-General, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, described Jigawa as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states, attributing it to proactive leadership.
He said the creation of JPCACC with a mediation mandate under Governor Namadi has further strengthened peacebuilding in the state.Dr. Ochogwu commended JPCACC for its achievements and assured that the MoU would enhance the Commission’s role in mediation and peaceful coexistence.
He pledged IPCR’s support in staff capacity building and inclusion of JPCACC in national and international peace and conflict engagements.
Both parties said the agreement will deepen cooperation in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, accountability, transparency and good governance, while supporting sustainable development in Jigawa and Nigeria.
