Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has released the Time Table and Schedule of activities for the Bye – Elections into Zuru Sate constituency of Kebbi State.
The Resident Electoral Commission Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar S-Pawa Danbo disclosed this to newsmen during a press briefing held at the commission headquarters in Birnin Kebbi the state capital.
S-Pawa Danbo said the activities will commence from 21st May, 2026 as section 23(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026 provides that notice of election shall be published not later than 14 days before the election to enable political parties democratically nominate candidates for the election as required by section 84 of the electoral Act, 2026.
According to him, the commission slated 20th June, 2026 as the date of election as contained in section 76 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended and urged people of the area to abide by the rules of the commission.
He further explained that, the third round of the continues voter registration exercise has commenced in order to enable eligible voters to register and collect their cards for them to elect credible leaders of their choice.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner said that, those eligible are people whose attained the age of 18, those that have lost their cards, those that have changed their locations and those that have card deficit have the time to visit over 225 registration areas to register their names and collect their cards.
According to him, kebbi State is among the best three states of the federation that have successfully completed the first and second phase of the exercise conducted earlier and has recorded huge success and employ the media to sensitize the public about the importance attached to the exercise.
