The Jigawa State Police Command has announced major operational breakthroughs across the state, and this has led to the arrest of suspected vandals, thieves, cattle rustlers and drug dealers.
In addition, the Command said the coordinated operations were part of its intensified intelligence-led policing strategy aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements.
Furthermore, the police stated that the successes reaffirm its commitment to protecting lives and property while ensuring that criminals have no safe haven within Jigawa.
Accordingly, on 8th July 2026, operatives arrested a suspected vandal found in possession of vandalized electric cable wires allegedly cut from behind a hotel in Dutse Metropolis.
Moreover, further investigation led to the arrest of three suspected receivers of the stolen cables and other property. The suspects were identified as Aminu Mohammed, 17, of Fagoji Quarters; Abdullahi Mustapha, 17, of Zai Quarters; and Sani Umar, 18, of Shagari Quarters, all in Dutse LGA. Meanwhile, the Command noted that the suspects are assisting with ongoing investigations and will be charged to court upon conclusion.
Similarly, on the same date, operatives attached to Dutse Division arrested Suleiman Muhammad, 23, of Mariri Quarters, Kano State, with suspected stolen items. Consequently, recovered items included one PlayStation 5 game console and two plasma television sets valued at ₦2,500,000.00.
However, police said the rightful owners of the items have been traced and the property released to them on bond, while the suspect will face prosecution after discreet investigation.
In another development, police from Guri Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes, arrested a suspected cattle rustler on 8th July 2026.
As a result, three suspected stolen cows were recovered from the suspect’s compound and handed over to the rightful owner on bond. Nevertheless, investigations are ongoing to unravel other members of the cattle rustling syndicate.
Likewise, in a sustained offensive against drug trafficking, operatives carried out coordinated raids at identified black spots in Dutse, Gumel and Kazaure LGAs.
Thus, three suspected drug dealers were arrested: Garba Muhammad alias Dare, 50; Buhari Umar alias Uban Kasa, 25, of Dantanoma; and Auwalu Dan Jos, 25, of Kofar Tsoro, Kazaure.
Finally, the Command recovered a total of 3,427 illicit drugs, four blocks and 551 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, and ₦100,660.00 cash believed to be proceeds of sales.
The breakdown includes 1,440 pieces of Exol, 258 tablets of Tramadol, 419 Pregabalin tablets, 679 D5 tablets, and 80 tubes of rubber solution.
The Commissioner of Police commended officers for their professionalism and also appreciated members of the public for providing credible information.
In conclusion, the Command reiterated its resolve to sustain the offensive against all forms of criminality, and therefore urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
