The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded two major breakthroughs in less than 48 hours with the arrest of a suspected burglar in Takur Site and the dismantling of a notorious motorcycle theft syndicate in Kazaure.In the first operation, operatives from Takur Site Division, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Mustapha Umar, 19, of Azare LGA, Bauchi State, on 22nd June 2026 at about 12:00pm over the theft of a Samsung A14 mobile phone belonging to one Mercy Onoja.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to conspiring with three other accomplices based in Kaduna and Bauchi States who are currently on the run.
A tactical search of the suspects’ hotel accommodation led to the recovery of key exhibits.
Items recovered include a knife, master keys, screwdrivers, scissors, a horn, perfume, wristwatches, a mobile phone, and other suspected burglary implements believed to be used for housebreaking and theft. The Command said manhunt operations have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing accomplices.
In a separate intelligence-led operation, detectives attached to Kazaure Division on 23rd June 2026 at about 8:00pm intercepted and dismantled a motorcycle theft and trafficking syndicate along *Dandi-Kazaure Road.
Four suspects were apprehended while attempting to dispose of a suspected stolen motorcycle.
The gang leader was identified as *Aminu Adamu, 48, of Galadanchi Quarters, Kazaure Town. Further investigation linked the syndicate to a series of motorcycle thefts across the axis. Consequently, *four stolen motorcycles were recovered as exhibits.
At the conclusion of investigation, the four suspects were found culpable and have since been arraigned before a competent court for prosecution. One principal suspect and another accomplice remain at large.
Reacting to the development, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, commended officers and men for their professionalism, vigilance, and prompt response to actionable intelligence.
He reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on crime and warned that Jigawa State will remain a hostile operational environment for criminal elements.
The CP also appealed to members of the public to partner with security agencies by providing timely, credible, and actionable information to aid crime prevention and facilitate the arrest of offenders.
The Command assured residents of sustained patrols and intelligence gathering to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
