SALIS MUHAMMAD MORIKI.

Following a series of my writes up highlighting the alleged neglect of road infrastructure within Kwaru and adjoining communities, as well as the subsequent intervention of the Sarkin Kwaru and the commitment made by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Sadeeq Mamman Lagos, the Kaduna State Government has commenced the process of constructing the Shagari Road-Dutse Road-Unguwar Yero Road.

Over the past months, I published a number of articles and commentaries drawing attention to the deteriorating condition of this critical road network and the need for urgent government intervention.

These publications generated considerable public attention and eventually prompted direct engagement from the Honourable Commissioner, who personally reached out to me and also contacted the Sarkin Kwaru.

Following the intervention of the traditional institution, the Commissioner assured the community that the road project would commence immediately after the completion of ongoing works in Kabala.

Today, it is gratifying to note that this commitment is gradually materialising. Contractors and workers have reportedly been mobilised to the project site, signalling the government’s readiness to commence the long-awaited construction of the Shagari Road–Dutse Road–Unguwar Yero corridor.

The project is expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe of less than six weeks, by the grace of Almighty Allah. This development demonstrates the importance of constructive civic engagement, responsive leadership and collaboration between government officials, community leaders and concerned citizens. It also underscores the value of advocacy in drawing attention to the developmental needs of underserved communities.

In light of this positive development, the people of Kwaru and the entire Badarawa axis wish to express their sincere appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Sadeeq Mamman Lagos, for honouring his commitment and responding to the infrastructural needs of the community. We equally commend the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, for prioritising grassroots development and addressing the concerns of the people.

While we remain appreciative, we are equally hopeful that the project will be executed to the required standard and completed within the promised timeframe. We pray for the continued progress, peace, and prosperity of Kaduna State and for the success of all initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of its citizens.
