The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, psc, mnips, on behalf of officers and men of the Command, felicitates with the good people of Jigawa State and the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebration.
In line with the Command’s commitment towards ensuring a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free festive period, the Commissioner of Police wishes to assure residents that the Command has deployed robust security measures and activated all operational assets across the State to guarantee maximum security before, during, and after the celebration.
The Command has strategically deployed personnel from various tactical and conventional units, including the Violent Crime Response Unit, Patrol Teams, Intelligence Operatives, Traffic Officers, EOD & PMF Personnel, Undercover Operatives, and other operational assets to critical locations across the state such as Eid praying grounds, recreational centres, markets, highways, motor parks, and other public places.
The police, in collaboration with other security agencies and critical stakeholders, have intensified intelligence gathering, confidence-building patrols, stop-and-search operations, and surveillance activities aimed at preventing criminal activities and maintaining public peace and order throughout the festive period.
The Commissioner of Police further directs all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and supervising officers to remain vigilant, proactive, and professional in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities. They are also tasked with ensuring effective visibility policing and prompt response to distress calls within their Areas of Responsibility.
While congratulating the people of the state for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Command equally appeals to members of the public to remain law-abiding, security conscious, and cooperate with security personnel by providing timely and useful information that can assist in preventing crime and criminality.
Parents and guardians are advised to caution their wards against reckless driving, dangerous horse riding, substance abuse, and other acts capable of causing breach of peace during the celebration.
The Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and assures residents that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that Jigawa State remains peaceful and secure throughout the Sallah festivities.
