The residents of Gano town and environ in Dawakin-Kudu local government area in Kano state, troop-out in thousands to staged a peaceful protest, due to the high level of mining explosion by Gama Company Limited, a quarry firm based in the area.Speaking on behalf of the aggrieved protesters, Hon Mustapha Baba, expressed the situation as a violation to both environmental and mine laws.”Our walls were seriously cracking, with the present cost as sky-rocket in building materials, it is uncompromised to vulnerables ones” so added.Police in the area confirmed the situation.The area’s DPO, Mr Ibrahim Kangiwa CSP, told this media that professionalism means was displayed in putting the situation under control.A senior official in the company, who pleaded anomymous, described the situation as worrisome and appeal for calm. “The company would demand a technical explanation from the man handling the blast, to avoid further occourances”as added.
