The Abdullahi Mahmood Foundation, AMF, has supported 7,300 pupils in Malam Madori and Kaugama Local Government Areas of Jigawa State with feeding, uniforms and other essential items for the 2024-2026 academic sessions.
The Chairman of AMF, Abdullahi Mahmood, disclosed this during an assessment of the foundation’s activities in the two local government areas.
He said the foundation distributed 3,800 school uniforms and 200 bags of rice to 7,000 pupils across 96 primary schools and 14 junior secondary schools in 14 out of the 22 wards in Malam Madori and Kaugama Federal Constituency.
According to him, the intervention was aimed at promoting school attendance, supporting girl-child education, and reducing the burden on parents.
Mahmood added that for 17 consecutive months, the foundation has engaged pupils on the dangers of drug abuse and provided them with educational materials.
He said the foundation also organized ICT workshops in Malam Madori and Kaugama where male and female students were trained on web design, graphics, product design, computer operation and Artificial Intelligence to improve their digital skills.
In recognition of hard work, the foundation awarded 14 best-performing teachers for their commitment to teaching and learning in the area.
In collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, the foundation also sensitized over 7,000 pupils in 114 primary and junior secondary schools on the dangers of drug abuse.
Mahmood said the sensitization was part of efforts to encourage parents and children to embrace both Western and Islamic education, as well as entrepreneurship, to prepare them for future leadership roles.
He commended the Jigawa State Government under Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi for supporting the foundation with 200 bags of rice and other items to enable it to discharge its responsibilities to the community.
