The Jigawa State Police Command on Thursday, 20th August 2026, commemorated the International Youth Day with a sensitization lecture aimed at discouraging youths from political and digital thuggery.
The event, held under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations”, brought together NYSC members, students of Federal University Dutse and Jigawa State Polytechnic, members of NAJISS, POWA, and other youths across the state.
Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, represented by DCP Abdullahi S. Wase, said youths are critical to national development and urged them to shun violence, intimidation, and the misuse of social media for political manipulation, hate speech, misinformation, and other cyber abuses.
CP Murtala advised the youths to verify information before sharing, respect divergent opinions, and report suspicious online activities to security agencies rather than taking laws into their hands.
He also cautioned against being used as instruments of political violence during elections, and instead encouraged constructive political participation, entrepreneurship, education, and community policing.
The CP reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to continuous engagement with youth groups and educational institutions as part of its community-oriented policing strategy.
The program was attended by members of the Command’s Management Team, Heads of Departments, and senior officers.
