The ‘Matoya’ water point poses a recurring annual threat to the residents of Garko Quarters, endangering lives in the surrounding community.

Homes, graveyard, school, and a handicraft centre are all located near this contaminated water source.

Despite continuous outcries from residents to the local government council, the state government, and non-governmental organizations, a lasting solution remains silent.

During the preceding administration of Abdulqadir Umar Bala, urgent action was taken to siphon the water away, temporarily mitigating the hazard and allowing residents to sleep with both eyes closed.

However, the Hadejia local government council under the current leadership of Yaro Abba Ari appears to be dragging its feet moving like a chameleon when it comes to decisive action.

The council has yet to implement another proposed 60 million Naira tunnel project, which is designed to siphon the Abbatoir water point to its rightful destination.

It is hoped that Yaro Abba Ari will take this piece seriously , By doing so, he will earn the prayers and gratitude of the people under his jurisdiction and avoid the eventual need for the Emergency Management Agency to intervene in the area.

We are waiting for the last year 60 million Naira water tunnel to start working so that other local Government areas with such problem will emulate , propose and implement the stylistic project of Yaro Abba Ari.

If I were Yaro Abba Ari I will use everything possible to end the threat of Matoya water point in this year to become lasting solution to the problem bedeviling the area.
