Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for learning in both conventional and religion schools across the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq stated this during inauguration of Sheikh Adam Abdullah Al-Ilory Centre for Computing and Digital Technology held at Misbahudeen Arabic and Islamic School, Ganmo, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Represented by the Commissioner for Education and Human Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, the Governor commended Al-Maruf Global Works Nigeria Limited for establishing the computer centre under its Arabic School Development Programmes.
He praised the founder of the initiative, Dr Marof Raji, describing the project as a significant contribution that would improve learning, research and digital literacy among students of Arabic and Islamic studies.
In his address, Professor Mahmood Jimba stressed the growing importance of science, technology and Artificial Intelligence in modern education, urging students and scholars to embrace digital tools to advance the learning of Arabic and Islamic studies.
Professor Jimba also lauded Dr Raji for introducing digital learning facilities into Arabic education and called on other well-meaning individuals to support their alma maters and educational development.
For his part , Professor Shuaib Sayuti Ologele of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, advised students of Arabic and Islamic studies to acquire vocational skills and engage in productive ventures to become self-reliant and valuable to society.
In a remark Professor Hamza AbdulRaheem urged Muslim scholars to remain united and uphold values that would project Islam positively in society.
He also advised students to remain focused on their studies and appealed to governments at all levels to provide greater support for Arabic and Islamic schools to compete globally.
Also speaking, the GrandKhadi, Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, Ilorin, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen encouraged the school management, teachers and students to maximise the opportunities provided by the digital centre to broaden their knowledge and contribute meaningfully to societal development.
In his address the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, represented by his Personal Assistant, Dr Muritala AbdulRaheem, described the project as a continuation of the enduring legacy of Sheikh Adam Al-Ilory and commended Al-Maruf Global Works for promoting educational advancement.
In his comment, Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja who is also the first Mallami Ubandoma of Ilorin Emirate, Dr AbdulKadir Solagberu, called on Arabic schools to take advantage of government approval for science classes in Islamic institutions.
He urged scholars to embrace digital education and look into the policy of academic requirements such as WAEC and NECO qualifications for studies in Arab nations.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Director of Al-Maruf Global Works Nigeria Limited, Dr. Marof Raji said that the organisation, established in 2020, was committed to advancing Arabic and Islamic education, supporting creativity, promoting Quranic learning, and improving the welfare of Muslims, orphans and the less privileged.
He noted that the Thirteen Million Naira digital centre project was aimed at reviving and preserving Arabic and Islamic studies while equipping students with modern learning and technological skills.
