The Jigawa State Police Command has stepped up enforcement of vehicle registration and traffic laws across the state to improve public safety and security.
The operation focused on motorists using vehicles with covered, defaced, or missing number plates, cars displaying manufacturers’ logos instead of proper plates, and vehicles with illegal tinted windows.
According to the Command, these violations make it difficult for police to identify vehicles, investigate crimes, and can help criminals evade arrest. Motorists have been urged to comply fully with all vehicle registration and identification laws.
During the exercise, 24 vehicles that broke the rules were impounded. All the offenders were taken to court and arraigned for prosecution in line with the law.
The Police stated that the crackdown is not meant to punish law-abiding citizens but to ensure safety and order on the roads.
Vehicle owners are advised to update their documents, remove any coverings from number plates, replace damaged plates, stop using logos in place of registration numbers, and follow tinted glass regulations.
The Command warned that the enforcement will continue statewide, and violators will be arrested and prosecuted.
The Jigawa Police also thanked residents for their cooperation and called for continued support to maintain a safe and secure environment.
