Veteran broadcaster and Director of FM, Radio Kano, Hajiya Habiba Abubakar Balarabe, is dead.She died on Thursday, June 18, 2026, after a brief illness, family sources confirmed.
Until her death, Hajiya Habiba was a respected figure in broadcasting, known for her decades of service and dedication to journalism in Kano State.
She began her career in the News Department of Radio Kano before moving to the Hausa Service Programme Department, where she rose to become Head of the Section.
Her contributions shaped programming and mentored many journalists and presenters at the station.
Colleagues described her as a disciplined, hardworking, and compassionate leader who gave her best to public broadcasting.
Staff of Radio Kano are mourning her death, describing it as a huge loss to the station and the media industry in the state.
