The general public is hereby informed that His Excellency, Hon. Dr. Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, has graciously approved the declaration of Tuesday, 16th June 2026, which corresponds to 1st Muharram 1448AH, as a public holiday across the state to commemorate the beginning of the Islamic New Year.
This approval was conveyed through a letter issued and signed by the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu.
Accordingly, government offices, institutions, and other public establishments are expected to observe the holiday.
Normal official activities and work will resume on Wednesday, 17th June 2026.The government wishes all Muslim faithful and residents a peaceful, prosperous, and blessed Islamic New Year.
