President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday sworn in Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The brief ceremony held at the Presidential Villa was attended by the ministers’ spouses and senior government officials.
The appointments followed the resignations of former Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar and Power Minister Chief Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue political careers.
The Senate confirmed the two nominees on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.Tegbe, born in Ibadan, Oyo State, is a fiscal and institutional reform strategist with over 35 years’ experience in public and private sectors.
He holds a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, an MBA from Switzerland, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Birmingham.
He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, leading major presidential reforms and subnational government strategies.
He has worked with NCC, NERC, NRS, Shell, Huawei, GE, MTN, and Odu’a Group.Ambassador Enikanolaiye, from Igbagun, Kogi State, bagged a First Class in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University and a Distinction in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
He joined the Foreign Service in 1982, rose to Permanent Secretary in 2016, and retired in 2017 after 35 years.The career diplomat served in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and was Nigeria’s Head of Mission in New Delhi.
Until his appointment, he was Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Foreign Affairs in the Office of the Chief of Staff.
