Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency NASHIA says it has registered over three hundred and sixty two thousand enrolle under the universal health coverage in the state.

Executive Secretary of the Agency Dr. Yahaya Bawa Ubam disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen in lafia, the state capital.

Dr. Yahaya Bawa Ubam said, the agency is targeting to register over five hundred thousand indegene within the period of five years by the year twenty twenty seven to achieve the state universal health coverage.

According to him, with this the agency had expanded it facilities and activities to all the three geo-political zones to enable them capture more numbers of the beneficiaries and improved the health status of the citizens in the state.

Dr. Yahaya Bawa Ubam said, people with special needs and other voulnarables groups both federal and state government under the basic health-care provition funds and the state government equity fund programe their medical bills is free and compulsory

He said, the basic health-care fund of the federal givernmrnt over eigthty two thousand nasarawa citizens was enrolled while the state government equity fund have about twenty two thousand indegene who have engaged into the program

The Executive Secretary of the NASHIA said, ninety seven percent of the state civil servants including the local governments were enrolled into the program adding that civil servant are paying three percent from their monthly salary income to cover the cost.

Dr. Yahaya Baea Ubam explained that individual will only pay twelve to eighten thousand naira for enrollement into the program which is going to be implemented by july next month.

He said the universal health-care coverage would be achieve by twenty thirty and all people of the world most have access to affordable and free health-care without paying.
