The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug dealers and recovered 5,676 pieces of assorted illicit drugs in coordinated intelligence-led raids across the state.
The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, 5th August 2026, by its Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam.
The suspects were identified as Umar Rabiu, alias “Sarka”, 22, of Unguwar Gamji; Auwalu Muhammad, 25, of Gusau Quarters; and Umar Akilu, 25, of Kuka village.
According to the statement, the operation was part of the Command’s ongoing crackdown on the sale, distribution and abuse of illicit substances.
Items recovered from the suspects include:
L Exol: 3,833 pieces
Diazepam: 919 pieces
- Tramadol*: 204 pieces
- Pregabalin: 114 pieces
- Rubber solution: 101 pieces
- Lara capsules: 30 pieces
- Codeine syrup
- Suck and Die: 2 litres
- Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp: 1 block and 475 wraps
The police also recovered N93,626.00 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal drug trade.
The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism and commitment in disrupting drug trafficking networks.
He noted that drug abuse and trafficking remain major drivers of violent crimes and social vices, especially among youths.
The CP warned those involved in the sale, distribution or consumption of prohibited drugs to desist or face the full wrath of the law. He assured that the Command will continue to intensify intelligence-led operations to dismantle drug networks.
The statement added that the suspects have been arraigned in court.
The Jigawa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public safety and ridding the state of criminal elements.
