Jigawa State Government has approved over ₦2.4 billion for compensation of traders and property owners, construction of agricultural facilities, and supply of educational materials and official vehicles.
The State Executive Council gave the approval during its latest meeting chaired by Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA.
The decision is in line with the administration’s 12-Point Agenda.A major portion of the fund, ₦337,365,450, was set aside as compensation for shop owners affected by the remodeling of Kafin Hausa Market.
The payment is meant to ease hardship on traders displaced by the project.
Another ₦757,286,297.50 was approved for property owners whose structures were affected by the Doko and Dangyatin Township Roads construction.
The council said the compensation will cover demolished buildings along the road corridors.In agriculture, the council approved ₦470,312,500 for haulage and logistics of 100 subsidized tractors and implements from Abuja to Dutse.
The move is under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope National Agricultural Mechanisation Programme.
Officials said the tractors and equipment will boost mechanized farming, reduce labor, and improve productivity for farmers across Jigawa’s 27 local government areas.
For education, ₦624,615,344.15 was approved for supply and distribution of 23,800 sets of uniforms for female students in public schools statewide.
The initiative is aimed at boosting girl-child enrollment and school dignity.
The approval also covers procurement of government vehicles to strengthen operations. These include one fairly used Toyota Corolla LE, one brand-new 14-seater Toyota Hiace Bus, and one brand-new Toyota Hilux.
When combined with earlier approvals, the agriculture sector now has ₦743,605,772.50, covering greenhouse projects and tractor haulage.
Compensation and infrastructure gulped ₦1,094,651,747.50, covering both Kafin Hausa Market traders and victims of the Doko/Dangyatin road project, while education and government operations received ₦624,615,344.15.
The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmed, said the total ₦2,462,872,864.15 approval shows Governor Namadi’s commitment to agricultural transformation, education support, infrastructure growth, and improved livelihoods for Jigawa citizens.
