The National Orientation Agency (NOA), supported by UNICEF, has embarked on a sensitisation campaign on Ebola disease in Malam Madori Local Government Area.
In his response, the Community Mobilisation Officer (COMO), Gambo Garba, stated that the campaign covered the Fish Market, motorpark station, and other gathering places.
Gambo added that the symptoms of Ebola disease include vomiting, fever, severe headaches, diarrhoea, muscle pain, and unexplained bleeding.
He further outlined the prevention measures as follows:· Avoid direct contact with the blood or body of sick persons.· Do not touch or handle dead bodies.· Wash your hands regularly with soap and water.· Avoid contact with rats and monkeys.· Seek medical care if you notice early symptoms.
In his concluding remark, the Community Mobilisation Officer noted that the sensitisation campaign would be expanded to other sensitive places in the area. He also urged people to pass the information to those living in rural areas.
