The Dutse Emirate Development Association (DEDA) has commended the Jigawa State Government for initiating a review of the Dutse Master Plan 2050 and setting up a high-level committee to harmonize stakeholder inputs for the capital’s future development.
In a press statement signed by its PRO II, Muhammad Musbahu Basirka, DEDA described the move under Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi as a landmark step that will shape Dutse into a modern, inclusive, resilient, and economically vibrant capital.
The association applauded the State Executive Council for making the review inclusive, involving stakeholders, professional bodies, community representatives, and relevant institutions.
DEDA said the approach would strengthen public confidence and ensure the final plan reflects the needs of present and future generations.
DEDA noted that the Dutse Master Plan 2050 offers a unique opportunity to address urban expansion, infrastructure, housing, transportation, environmental sustainability, economic growth, public spaces, and social amenities.
It urged the committee to ensure communities across the Dutse Emirate are adequately captured in the document.
On security, DEDA called for strengthened local security outfits and expanded routine patrols within Dutse metropolis and surrounding areas.
“Sustainable development can only thrive in a secure environment,” the association said, advocating increased support, training, logistics, and better collaboration among security agencies, vigilante groups, and community watch structures.
The group also commended the state government’s commitment to industrialization and reliable energy, particularly the establishment of industrial clusters and an independent power station.
DEDA said stable electricity would reduce production costs, attract investors, create jobs for youths, and position Dutse as a leading economic hub in Northern Nigeria.
Finally, DEDA urged the speedy completion of the Greater Dutse Water Project, noting that access to clean water is vital for public health, commerce, healthcare, education, and industry.
The association reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with government, traditional institutions, and stakeholders to advance peace, security, and prosperity in Dutse and Jigawa State.
