The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State, H.E. Sheikh Dr. Abdulmuddalib Muhammad Auwal Gusau, has described the killing of Major General Rabe Abubakar by bandits as evidence of a deteriorating security situation in Northern Nigeria.
In a statement issued on 14 June 2026, Dr. Abdulmuddalib said the death of a senior military officer of General Rabe’s rank underscores the scale of the security challenges confronting the country and its security agencies.
“The insecurity crisis in Northern Nigeria has reached an extremely alarming level,” he said, adding that urgent action and more effective strategies are needed from both the government and security institutions.
He noted that attacks by bandits, kidnappings for ransom, and other criminal activities continue to threaten lives, property, and economic development across the North and the nation at large.
Dr. Abdulmuddalib called on the Federal Government and security agencies to reassess and strengthen their approach to combating insecurity, and to improve cooperation among government, security personnel, and local communities to achieve lasting peace.
His comments come amid growing public concern over the increasing frequency of attacks by armed groups in parts of Northern Nigeria, which have heightened fear and uncertainty among residents.
