The National Orientation Agency, NOA, with support from UNICEF, has launched a sensitisation campaign on Ebola disease in Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The exercise is part of NOA’s commitment to educating Nigerians on disease outbreaks and other developmental issues. Community Mobilisation Officer, Gambo Garba, said the campaign covered the Fish Market, motor park, and other public gathering places.
Garba listed symptoms of Ebola to include vomiting, fever, severe headache, diarrhoea, muscle pain, and unexplained bleeding. He advised residents to avoid contact with blood or body fluids of sick persons, avoid handling dead bodies, wash hands regularly with soap, avoid contact with rats and monkeys, and seek medical care at the onset of symptoms.
He said the campaign will be extended to other sensitive areas in the local government, and urged residents to pass the information to people in rural communities.
