A worker was rescued alive after a fencing wall collapsed on him during a demolition exercise at Kofar Mata Zango in Kano Municipal Local Government Area.

The Kano State Fire Service said it received a distress call at about 8:49 a.m. from Naziru Ahmad, reporting the incident.In a statement signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi, emergency responders from the Fire Service Headquarters were immediately deployed to the scene.

According to the statement, the affected residential building, measuring about 30 by 20 feet, was undergoing demolition when the fencing wall suddenly became unstable.

One of the workers, identified as Sadiq Ahmad, reportedly fell while trying to escape as the wall collapsed, leaving him trapped beneath the debris.

Firefighters promptly launched a rescue operation and successfully pulled the victim out alive. He was taken to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital for treatment and handed over to his brother, Naziru Ahmad.The Fire Service said the cause of the collapse is under investigation.

It also urged members of the public to strictly observe safety measures during demolition and construction activities to prevent similar incidents.
