The Jigawa State Government has conducted its annual environmental sanitation exercise in Gwiwa Local Government Area to clear drainages and prevent flooding.

The exercise, held on Tuesday, June 17, 2026 in Gwiwa town, was part of initiatives by Governor Umar A. Namadi, Danmodi, to promote cleanliness and protect the environment.Chairman of the Central Committee, Abdulmuminu Jammaje, led the exercise.

He said the program is critical in addressing drainage-related challenges that often cause flooding in parts of the state.

“Currently, the exercise is being conducted in Gwiwa LGA, especially within Gwiwa town, to ensure environmental cleanliness and clear water channels in order to protect lives and property,” he stated.

Residents of Gwiwa LGA commended the Chairman of Gwiwa Local Government, Hon. Muhammadu Zakari Sarkin Yaki, for his commitment to development and improving community welfare.

The people prayed for continued guidance for Governor Namadi and Hon. Zakari to enable them deliver more developmental projects for the state and nation.

The sanitation exercise is expected to continue across other parts of Jigawa State as the rainy season intensifies.
