The newly constructed TRC Bridge at the Challawa 6MW Hydro Power Site has been officially opened to the public, improving transportation and connectivity between Turawa town, Karaye, Kiru, and neighbouring communities in Kano.The inauguration was led by the Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Gaddafi Sani Shehu, who described the bridge as a landmark infrastructure project that will enhance mobility and stimulate socio-economic activities in the area.He noted that the TRC Bridge aligns with the broader development agenda of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, which prioritises infrastructure expansion and sustainable socio-economic growth across the state.In his remarks, the Managing Director of the Kano Hydro and Energy Development Company (KHEDCO), Engr. Ado Ibrahim Doguwa, noted that the bridge would ease the movement of people and goods while stimulating commercial activity in the area.Also speaking the Project Manager, Engineering Shailendra Singh, confirmed the completion of the road bridge as part of the Challawa 2x3MW Hydroelectric Power Project. He further disclosed that the Challawa 2x3MW Hydroelectric Project is expected to resume electricity supply to the Kano State Government by the end of May 2026 or early June 2026, marking a significant step toward strengthening power infrastructure in the state.The Commissioner was accompanied by the Managing Director of the Kano State Rural Electricity Board (REB), Engineer Bala Dambatta; and other senior officials from the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy.
