The mother of quintuplets, Hafsatu Yusuf, died due to severe postpartum bleeding, less than 24 hours after giving birth to five healthy babies three boys and two girls at a Kano hospital.
The rare birth, initially celebrated as a remarkable medical achievement, has now been overshadowed by the tragic loss of the mother.
Confirming the incident, Nabulusi Abubakar, Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, stated that despite the doctors’ best efforts to manage the postpartum complications, the mother could not be saved.
He reassured the public that the quintuplets are in stable condition and responding well to medical care.
“The Kano State Government has taken full responsibility for the babies’ welfare and will ensure they receive the necessary medical attention and support,
” The loss of Hafsatu Yusuf has sent shockwaves across the state, highlighting the risks associated with high-order multiple births and the importance of advanced maternal care.
