The Alumni Association of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative has launched a tree planting campaign in Bauchi State as part of efforts to ensure healthy environment and combat desertification.
Speaking at the event, which took place at Dr. Ibrahim Tahir Secondary School Bauchi, the National President of the Association, Architect Abubakar Tijjani Garba, stated that the initiative to plant trees is based on its importance for improving a healthy environment.
He noted that the association has partnered with the Bauchi State House of Assembly ,Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency and the Ministry of Education, with the aim of planting a significant number of trees, particularly in schools, to instill the habit of tree planting in students.
Speaking, representatives from the House of Assembly and BASEPA, Hajiya Hauwa Abubakar Esq Clerk of the state Assembly and Kamaludden Shehu Musa from BASEPA, commended the efforts of the association and expressed their full support and collaboration to ensure the success of its activities.
They emphasized the importance of tree planting and urged the community to embrace the idea of planting trees.
In her speech, the Coordinator of the Alumni Association of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative in Bauchi, Nafisa Abubakar Barau, thanked them for contributing to achieve the target.
Nafisa Abubakar announced that they already commenced tree planting activities in the following schools, UBEC Smart School, Ibrahim Bako Mega School, Kobi Mega School, Dr. Ibrahim Tahir Secondary School, Dawaki Primary School, Nura Adamu Jumba Primary School and Garu College of Health Technology.
During the program awards were presented to the Bauchi State House of Assembly and BASEPA for their contributions to the union.
