Headmasters and those responsible for distributing free school materials provided by the state government to primary school pupils have been warned against diverting these items for personal gain or distributing them unfairly.
The Chairperson of Tudun Wada Local Government, Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Yushe’u Soja, issued this warning while leading the distribution of the materials to over 34,807 students at the Local Government Education Secretariat.
Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Soja emphasized that the local government leadership will not tolerate any form of corruption or mismanagement in the distribution process. She reminded school authorities that the purpose of the state government’s initiative is to support parents and reduce the number of out-of-school children. She also urged them to prioritize children from less privileged families over those from wealthy backgrounds.
The Chairperson expressed her happiness over the progress in children’s education, particularly after witnessing primary four and five pupils present speeches in English fluently without mistakes. She reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to improving both religious and modern education.
In his welcome speech, the Head of Primary Education in the area, Alhaji Hamisu Dahiru Oni, highlighted the achievements and challenges faced by his department. He commended the local government leadership for providing free chairs to some schools in the region.
Similarly, the Local Government Secretary, Alhaji Ali NTA, praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for ensuring the welfare of workers by paying their entitlements on time.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the NNPP party in the area, Alhaji Dalha Kantoma, and the representative of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Musa Muhammad Inusa, urged parents to fulfill their responsibilities by ensuring their children receive quality education, which will help produce responsible future leaders.
Speaking on behalf of the local community, Mallam Lawan Gidan Mai GadarTaxis expressed gratitude for the government’s developmental projects. He specifically acknowledged that their town had never had a proper school before this administration.
