A young tea and bread vendor, Mallam Ibrahim Na Ali, has received a ₦1 million cash gift from the Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Alhaji Anas Mukhtar Bello Danmaliki, to boost his small business.
The donation, which was made via direct bank transfer from the chairman’s personal account, came after a visit to the vendor during which the chairman learned of his struggles — relying on credit to purchase supplies and repaying after sales.
Alhaji Anas Danmaliki explained that the gesture is part of his administration’s commitment to promoting self-reliance and economic empowerment among the people, particularly youths who are facing difficult economic conditions with little or no support.
“This young man is hardworking and honest. We found that he runs his business on borrowed supplies, which he repays after selling. Such dedication deserves support from the government to fight poverty,” said Alhaji Anas Danmaliki while speaking to journalists.
He reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting the underprivileged, students, and small business owners, while also calling on wealthy individuals and those in positions of power to assist the government in reducing poverty and unemployment in society.
Overwhelmed with joy, Mallam Ibrahim Na Ali expressed his deep appreciation, describing the assistance as the biggest support he had ever received. He noted that until now, he had never seen a leader who truly cared for the poor like Alhaji Anas Danmaliki.
“I belong to the opposition party, APC, but the compassion and generosity I witnessed from Chairman Anas Danmaliki made me admire him deeply. Because of him, I’m even willing to serve tea for free to the public,” Mallam Ibrahim said cheerfully.
The generous act has received praise from the community, with many calling for continued initiatives like this to help uplift struggling youths and reduce poverty across the area.
