Today, Friday, April 4, 2025, in honor of the 2025 National Police Day, the Jigawa State Police Command held a statewide sanitation exercise to promote environmental hygiene and strengthen community relations.
The exercise was held in Dutse, the state’s capital, at Hakimi Street, Yan tifa, and Tsohuwar Kasuwa. Officers and men from the Command actively participate in cleaning activities in the aforementioned areas, as well as public places in other local governments.
The initiative was part of a series of events planned to commemorate National Police Day, which recognizes the dedication and service of police officers across the country.
Speaking during the exercise, the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP AT Abdullahi, psc, highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean environment as a collective responsibility. He stated, “As we commemorate National Police Day, it is important that we demonstrate our commitment not only to security but also to public health and environmental sustainability.”
He also stated that the sanitation exercise provided an opportunity for the police to interact with members of the public outside of their normal law enforcement duties, fostering mutual trust and collaboration.
The CP praised the officers’ active participation and thanked the Jigawa state government, particularly the leadership of the Dutse Capital Development Authority (DCDA), Yan tifa leadership, community members, and other stakeholders who took part in the exercise. He urged the public to always maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and continue to support the police in achieving a safer and healthier society.
The National Police Day celebration continues with a series of activities including community outreach, lectures, special parade and awards ceremony to honor outstanding officers.
