In a strong move against police misconduct, the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Danladi Isa, has dismissed three officers for their involvement in a criminal conspiracy that saw them abduct and extort money from innocent victims. The disgraced officers have also been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution, alongside their civilian accomplices.

The officers dismissed are:

Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi (Force No. 501356) – Area Command, Aba

Corporal James Daniel (Force No. 511844) – Department of Operations, Umuahia

Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka (Force No. 511853) – Eziama Division

According to police reports, these officers, in collaboration with two civilians, hired a minibus and carried out an abduction along the Port Harcourt Expressway on January 29, 2025. Armed with an electric baton, an assault rifle, and a Beretta pistol, they intimidated their victims and forced them to part with huge sums of money. Not stopping there, they went a step further, demanding ransom payments from the victims’ families before setting them free.

Their criminal activities came to an end when they were apprehended by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abayi. A swift investigation followed, leading to an Orderly Room Trial, which confirmed their guilt. As a result, they were dismissed from service, and their police gear was retrieved.
